| Writer of modern fables that became plays and movies. Best know for his "Fables in Slang" (1899) book. Wrote the play "The College Widow" (1927), which became the movie Maybe It's Love (1930). The story was about football at Wabash College in Crawfordsville, IN.
A 1887 graduate of Purdue University. He was loyal to his school. He contrubuted to his Sigma Chi fraternity and gave support to build a new football stadium which was named the Ross-Ade Stadium. With his money he built a manor called Hazelden near Brook, IN. There in the late 1900s and teens he hosted parties for presidental candidates and and World War I service men. He died in Brook.
