  • The Aesop of Indiana.
  • Writer of modern fables that became plays and movies. Best know for his "Fables in Slang" (1899) book. Wrote the play "The College Widow" (1927), which became the movie Maybe It's Love (1930). The story was about football at Wabash College in Crawfordsville, IN.
  • A 1887 graduate of Purdue University. He was loyal to his school. He contrubuted to his Sigma Chi fraternity and gave support to build a new football stadium which was named the Ross-Ade Stadium. With his money he built a manor called Hazelden near Brook, IN. There in the late 1900s and teens he hosted parties for presidental candidates and and World War I service men. He died in Brook.

  • Lillian Albertson (NOBLESVILLE - 1962)
  • Know as 'Miss A' to the actors of RKO. She was a stage actress in 1900s on Broadway. Came to the west coast to produce plays. One of her actors was Clark Gable. She became a drama coach for Paramount and in 1943 for RKO. She has worked with Jane Greer, Cary Grant and Ingrid Bergman. Her book "Motion Picture Acting" was foreworded by Rosalind Russell. She did some film work. In The Greatest Show on Earth (1952), she played Jimmy Stewart's mother.

  • Roland W. Alcorn sometimes know as Ronnie was a producer of a movie inspired by his time in the Indiana Boys School in Plainfield, IN. He was there from 1932-36. He had hard luck trying to make his fortune. He found it by selling flour to Brazil. he made his movie on location and with Hoagy Carmichael. ("Tall Tale in Indy". For a time he vanished owing money. He manage to come up with another movie in the 60s and a TV series about stories of soldiers in World War II and the Korea War. (I wish I knew what happen to him between this time)
