Actor that guest appeared in over 400 TV show. Appeared in one of the first episodes of The Twilight Zone (1959). Was the narriator of the show when it returned in 1985. His soft way of talking was used in voice overs for ads and TV shows. For a time he was James West's partner in Wild Wild West when Ross Martin was ill.
His career began when he adapted Edgar Lee Masters' "Spoon River Anthology" to the stage at UCLA. This went to broadway and it won an Emmy. He was personnally picked by Arthur Miller to play the lead in "After the Fall". It was about Miller's time with Marilyn Monroe.
